2024 Week 10: Lions 26, Texans 23
The Lions won this game even though they turned the ball over 5 times, which as noted in the Niners game, good teams find ways to win even when they aren’t playing well. Nice job by Dan Campbell for maintaining a level head and sticking by his players.
The Lions are now (8-1) and are the best team in football. I think we will have a Lions-Chiefs Super Bowl like we should have last year, if not for Jameson Williams dropping that pass. The Lions have an easy enough path to win the NFC, the competition at the top of the NFC isn’t nearly as strong as Detroit.
Houston (6-4) is constantly overrated and was towards the end of last year as well. This team has problems and if the entire AFC South wasn’t tripping over themselves they likely wouldn’t win the division.
===================================
QB Report:
- Jared Goff (15/30 for 240 yards, 2 TD/5 INT) threw 5 picks, 3 were on tipped passes, and one was on a hail mary… not so bad when you know the context of things. This is why watching film, or having someone watch film and report back to you is important. Most people see 5 INTs, I see 1 INT, and 1 on a Hail Mary where the ball being caught by anyone is less likely than it falling to the ground.
- In reality, Goff really battled in this game… the Lions were down 23-7 at the half, he had thrown 4 picks and threw his fifth before going on a 19-point rally to win the game. If you want to know what kind of mentality Goff has, what kind of mentality Dan Campbell and the rest of the Lions team have, this game tells all.
- CJ Stroud (19/33 for 232 yards, 1 TD/2 INT) has fallen from graces, with only 12 TDs in 10 games this season. Stroud looks fine, but his comp. Pct has been very low the last month of football, and the Texans are also running Joe Mixon (25-46-1; 2 catches for 44 yards) into the ground, he has had 24+ touches in 5 of his 6 complete games, maybe that’s why he missed time?
John Metchie Report:
There’s really only one WR I want to talk about in this game, and that is John Metchie (5-74-1/6). The Texans have brought in such a massive flurry of talent the last 2 offseason that John Metchie was tossed to the side, in part due to him battling cancer. This was the best I’ve seen Metchie look, which just piles on another reason why pursuing Stefon Diggs was a waste of time and money. Metchie is good for the NFL, bad for Fantasy because of his situation, and will only be usable in DEEP leagues.
