2024 Week 7: Seahawks 34, Falcons 14

Seattle (4-3) finally gets a win after their three-game slide and is now the top dog in the NFC West. As long as the Rams and Niners keep dealing with injury issues the Seahawks hope for winning the division stays alive.

The Falcons drop to (4-3) and they have a big game against the recently banged-up Bucs offense. If the Falcons can win they’ll be in firm control over the NFC South, being up 1 game but having 2 victories against TB.

=====================================

QB Report:
- I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Falcons have a Kirk Cousins (24/35 for 232 yards, 1TD/2INT) problem. He’s in the latter part of his career and the injury he sustained should have been the end… but Atlanta paid him millions to come back. Late in the 4th when this matchup was out of hand they put in their shiny new QB Michael Penix (1/1 for 14 yards) who threw one screen, and then played Jim Harbaugh offense simulator… handed it off a million times.

RB Report:
- Bijan Robinson (21-103-1, 3 catches for 40 yards) and Tyler Allgeier (5-36-0,1 catch for 9 yards) both looked and played great in this game. The Falcons would be dumb to move away from this split so I bet next week it’s all Bijan and no Allgeier.

WR/TE Report:

- What becomes of the Seahawks receiving group if DK Metcalf (4-99-1/7) missed Week 8?

Jake Bobo (0-0-0/1) will fill in for DK and he has always worked well when he plays. Geno likes throwing to him and even though he’s not the fastest guy in the world he just gets open.

Tyler Lockett (4-45-0/6) to me, is the obvious WR to take over in DK’s absence… if there’s any week to bet on Lockett having one of those random 30-point fantasy performances it’s this week. Now that I’ve said he won’t get a target all game.

Lastly, Jaxon Smith-Njigba (3-9-0/6) is the wildcard in all of this. I have never been able to predict a good JSN game. I can predict the bad ones because that happens pretty often. Seattle is playing Buffalo next week and would spend most of his time going up against one of the best slot corners in the league – Taron Johnson.

- Nothing has changed in the Atlanta receiving core, it’s Drake London (6-63-1/8) as often as possible, and if the Falcons are losing then it’s Darnell Mooney (5-46-0/8) time. A non-WR who’s making a move towards consistency for the first time in his career is Kyle Pitts (7-65-0/9)! Seattle made the decision to not cover him and focus more on London-Mooney-McCloud and Cousins, despite his failing body, still has the mind of a QB and just kept going to that well. Pitts now has three straight games of 65+ yard play. I, like all other NFL fans, have an ingrained distrust of Kyle Pitts, and because of that… I’m not sounding any alarms. I’ll just sit back and watch whatever happens happen. Seattle hasn’t been stellar against TEs this season anyway, allowing 12.7 ppg to that position in full PPR.
