2024 Week 7: Chiefs 28, 49ers 18

We got a Super Bowl rematch that was a bit of an offensive letdown, but neither team is healthy on offense. Both teams are missing their starting RBs and multiple WRs. The Chiefs improved to (6-0) and just continue to pull out victories. This KC team is extremely confusing, they aren’t playing well but they keep winning, it’s starting to feel like Denver is our only hope against this undefeated season.

The Niners are (3-4) and sit 3rd in the NFC West. If SF can beat Seattle for the second time then this will likely come down to the Rams and Niners.

WR/TE Report:

- Let’s start here with the DeAndre Hopkins to KC news.

- The Chiefs are so devoid of talent at the WR position this could be a huge connection that buoys this offense to heights we haven’t seen since the Mahomes-Kelce 2022 connections. The other option I see is this works fine because there’s no one else to go to, but it isn’t an electric must-start every week. This is the first time Mahomes has worked with a great route-runner in his career, I’m excited to see what happens.

If you own DeHop you can either sit and see what happens this week and next, or you can trade him either Friday or Saturday… the reason you should wait is to give the media time to hype this up. We know they’ll do it, it’s the Chiefs, it’s Mahomes, and it’s DeHop. A ‘Hall of fame connection’ if you will… hey that’s pretty good, I should use that.

The SF WR room is also going through changes, but this is because of injuries. Jauan Jennings should be the winner of Aiyuk going down, he has 3 years of experience with Purdy, and he already had that huge 3-TD game earlier this season. The WR I’m more intrigued in, and it’s probably just the rookie-allure, but Ricky Pearsall (3-21-0/5). Pearsall out-snapped all of the WRs in this game but he’s also the most green, this was his NFL debut after missing the offseason and the early stretch of this season after getting shot.

If Jennings is out Week 8 this is Pearsall’s chance to become the alpha in the room… I think he’s the most talented in the group, it’s just a matter of how fast he can adjust.

QB Report:
- Patrick Mahomes (16/27 for 154 yards, 2 INTs; 5 rushes for 39 yards) keeps falling off, he now has a 6/8 TD/INT ratio on the season, and 2 in this game. The Chiefs keep winning and Mahomes is in the argument for the greatest QB ever so who really cares? At the end of the day, the only stat that matters is W’s.

In his last 17 regular season games he has 4 300-yard games, 21 TDs and 18 INTs. only 2 300-yard games in his last 15.

- Brock Purdy (17/31 for 212 yards, 3 INTs; 8 rushes for 27 yards, 2 TDs) willed/ran himself into a good fantasy football game. Purdy has a 9/7 INT ratio and is on pace for the worst year of his career. Aiyuk is gone for the year, Deebo is missing time again, and Jauan Jennings was a late scratch and may even miss the Week 8 game.

RB Report:

- There’s not much to discuss, Hunt and Mason are so clearly the leads for their teams. CMC’s return is starting to gain some traction but I won’t believe it until we see him practicing with the team.
