2024 Week 10: Eagles 34, Cowboys 6

Well, the Cowboys managed to look worse than expected. They were gifted the ball on the 6-yard line after a sack/fumble caused by Micah Parsons, and did nothing with it, gaining an impressive one-yard before kicking a 23-yard field goal. That was the turning point in the game, 7-6 Eagles lead with Jalen Hurts getting the ball to run a two-minute drill. Philly scored in 7 plays putting them up 14-6 going into the half. And well, you can see the score… it was Philly domination from then on.

Dallas’s (3-6) season is done and they might not win another game. This team was bad coming into the year, I bet against them making the playoffs and it worked out well. Dallas has allocated money in all of the wrong places, mainly at WR and Edge, positions that are easily replaceable. Not to mention not drafting a single one of the amazing RBs that came out of the draft this past offseason. Jerry, step aside and let someone else call the shots.

The Eagles (7-2) on the other hand, just got a nice division win and are facing the Commanders who are just half of a game behind in the NFC East. The winner of their TNF matchup puts themselves in a great position to win the division. Philly is also coming off of 5 easy matchups, Washington is the best team they’ve played since that Week 1 Brazil/rain game against GB.

Not much to say about Philly, a lot to say about Dallas in this one.

=====================================

QB Report:

- Jalen Hurts (14/20 for 202 yards, 2 TDs/1 INT; 7 rushes for 56 yards, 2 TDs) is great and is the NFLs Shohei Ohtani (no disrespect Shohei), he’s going for the 20/20 season, now let’s talk about some REAL quarterbacks in Cooper Rush and Trey Lance.

- Cooper Rush (13/23 for 45 yards) had 45 passing yards on 23 attempts, let’s face the reality of this situation, he stinks. 1.9 yards per attempt is good enough to secure the starting position next week as well, What is Mike McCarthy thinking? Rush’s first real pass attempt (beyond the LoS) was underthrown by about 20 yards, and that was one of his better passes. I don’t understand what they saw in Rush to warrant him starting. What is Mike McCarthy thinking?

- Trey Lance (4/6 for 21 yards, 1 INT; 3 rushes for 17 yards) on the other hand, had some life to his passes. He wasn’t perfect by any means but he completed passes and had half of Rush’s yards in two possessions that were both sold short due to turnovers. Maybe that’s what Mike McCarthy is thinking. Lance threw a pick and Rush didn’t so Rush MUST be the better of the two. At least with Lance, this offense is more dynamic with the threat of him running the ball, which he is very good at.

Ultimately between Rush and Lance, you’re trying to figure out the lesser of two evils and start that one. Rush might play a half and they decide to throw Lance in for the rest of the game and start the next one, see what he can do. I’d bet on Lance taking the reins for good at some point… I hope so, so we can use his rushing ability in fantasy football.

WR/TE Report:
- What to do if you have Ceedee Lamb (6-21-0/10)? SELL SELL SELL. I hope you read that in the Jim Cramer voice, but unlike Jim Cramer’s advice you should follow this. Lamb received 10 targets so even if you can’t sell him off, he’ll still produce in PPR, but it’s not going to be anywhere near the CeeDee Lamb we thought we were drafting at the beginning of the year. The same goes for Jake Ferguson (4-24-0/6), except I almost want to cut him if I can’t get a deal done. I want nothing to do with Dallas, Brandon Aubrey being the only exception.

- Former FSU WR, now Eagles TE Johnny Wilson (1-5-1/1) had his first career touchdown. Nothing is emerging here, he just happened to play a snap near the endzone.

D/ST Report:
- Brandon Aubrey (2/2 FG) is going to live and die by the amount of first downs the Cowboys can get. If they can manage to get 1.5 to 3 first downs, depending on starting position, then congratulations Brandon Aubrey is within 70 yards and can kick a Field Goal! Aubrey is still the best kicker with the biggest leg, but I can understand why people would want to move away from him. Where I can get Austin Seibert I’m going in that direction, otherwise I’m sticking with Aubrey for the long haul.

- The Eagles have held 5 straight opponents to 17 points or less, Cincy being the only strong offense they’ve faced, but Cincy started to hit their stride after that game so I don’t count that as squashing a good offense. This Washington game is the first test of the Philly defense that’s been improving since Week 3 or 4.
