Waiver Adds, Avoids, and Dynasty Targets
Waiver Players You Should Trust:
Falcons QB Michael Penix
For the needy or instead of a random RB handcuff, Penix is an exciting gamble. The Atlanta offense has the weapons, they just haven’t had the QB this season… Kirk has looked off all year going back to that Week 1 game against Pittsburgh that was a field goal-fest. 0TDs and 8 INTs the last 4 games for Cousins, it’s just a matter of time.
Panthers WR Adam Thielen
Adam Thielen and Bryce Young’s connection has been on fire going back to their late surge last season. Thielen has averaged 8.5 catches, 100.5 yards, and 0.5 TDs in the last two games since Thielen returned from injury. This could be a potential playoff winner.
Raiders RB Sincere McCormick
McCormick is getting all of the touches because it’s working, but the second it stops working Antonio Pierce will move on to his next shiny new toy. It’s good now, but who knows going forward?
Browns QB Jameis Winston
Winston is getting berated in the media for all of the pick sixes he throws, so public opinion is low, but he just made it through one of the toughest stretches against PIT, DEN, PIT. The schedule opens up from here making Winston a nice QB2 option.
Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby
Bigbsy again showed that he is the best RB in Jacksonville. If Doug Pederson wasn’t so adamant about Travis Ettienne I would have Bigsby as the top waiver add of the week.
Packers TE Tucker Kraft
Kraft is one of the only tight ends consistently finding the end zone, and is serviceable when streaming with some other non-Kittle/Bowers tight ends.
Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet
We saw it this week and we saw it early in the season, Zach Charbonnet is a legit NFL talent (and better than Walker). He will produce great for FF as long as Kenneth Walker is out, and if you have K9 then you should have Charbonnet already.
Waiver Players You Should DISTRUST:
Cardinals WR Michael Wilson
Two solid weeks back-to-back, but there’s no real reason for it other than “he’s there”. All of Wilson’s catches came on the Cardinals first drive of the game.
Buccaneers WR Jalen McMillan
2 TDs this week as the defense tried to contain Mike Evans and Rachaad White… I think McMillan was mainly getting open because defenses don’t think about him. I think McMillan could be a star next year but I don’t think this is his time yet.
Lions WR Tim Patrick
Patrick also had 2 TDs this week, and it’s the same story as McMillan, defenses were focused on containing ARSB and the run game, so Jameson Williams and Patrick were able to be targeted heavier. There are other receivers showing a greater degree of consistency that I’m more interested in.
Raiders TE Michael Mayer
This was the first game Michael Mayer had more than 3 targets this season. I don’t think there’s going to be an uprising, Brock Bowers is too good to allow Mayer to succeed consistently.
Deep League/Dynasty Targets:
Saints RB Kendre Miller
The true handcuff to Alvin Kamara, and is starting to get some work in that ‘replace Taysom’ role.
Chargers WR Josh Palmer
No Ladd McConkey brought Palmer to FF relevance… if Ladd is out again this week he would be the handcuff so to speak.
Patriots QB Drake Maye
If your QBs are really dreadful, Maye has been fairly consistent this year, and there’s always the hope that he runs for a TD.
Broncos WR Marvin Mims
Mims is a homerun shot similar to Christian Watson or the old MVS, if you’re desperate for a boom or bust Mims is your guy.
Rams WR Tutu Atwell
Tutu has been getting more focus in the offense lately, and been putting up better FF numbers than Demarcus Robinson. This WR core is dominated by Kupp/Puka but Tutu is working himself into that #3 slot.
D/ST Streamers:
Cardinals D/ST
Arizona’s defense has started to fade lately, and so is their grasp on the NFC West. They have two favorable matchups vs. NE and CAR in the next two weeks in must-win games, I expect them to be aggressive on defense and try to take advantage of the two young QBs
Falcons D/ST
They are about to face Ridder and Lock/DeVito which is a nice run of QBs, but it’s hard to take this defense seriously, especially with all of the turnovers Kirk Cousins has had as of late.
Colts D/ST
This is a stash for Week 16, Indy goes up against Denver this week which is a brutal matchup, but to close the season:
Wk16: vs. TEN
Wk17: at NYG
Wk18: vs. JAX
Indy doesn’t have a great defense but they have the best schedule to end the season out of any other team in the league.
