2024 Week 9: Raiders 24, Bengals 41
The Raiders got up to a 7-0 lead with a long and impressive drive to start the game, and then Joe Burrow struck, taking the Bengals on a 41-3 run.
The Bengals are (4-5) and can be one game out of the NFC North with a win over the Ravens on TNF. Cincy has a fairly easy schedule, so a win would nicely position them in the division.
The Raiders (2-7) fired OC Luke Getsy after their fifth-straight loss. I wonder if Antonio Pierce survives the season.

QB Report:
- Joe Burrow (27/39 for 251 yards, 5 TDs/1 INT) had one of those games where you watch it and you know he’s the best QB in the league. This is something I’ve been saying for years now… Burrow is the best pure QB/passer in the NFL, better than Mahomes and Herbert. This was Burrow’s second 5TD game in his last 5 games.
- The Raiders are stuck with Gardner Minsher (10/17 for 124 yards) for the time being, but they might move to Desmond Ridder (11/16 for 74 yards, 1 TD) periodically as we saw in this game. Antonio Pierce moves away from things on the offense too quickly and allows bad play to linger too long on defense. Shocker. This offense stinks no matter who is at quarterback.
RB Report:
- The trend towards Chase Brown (27-120-0; 5 catches for 37 yards, 1 TD) has been growing steadily but then on Tuesday Cincy traded for Khalil Herbert, which tells me that Cincy either doesn’t believe in Moss and/or Brown, or it could be that Brown isn’t healthy. Either way, they don’t want there to be a full Chase Brown-led backfield.
- The Raiders may take the BYE week to reinstall Zamir White (6-10-1). White scored his first TD this year and fell out of favor with former OC Luke Getsy. I have no idea what they’ll do especially with Pierce as their coach, but Zamir was the only RB that could move the ball late last season.
WR/TE Report:
- Jakobi Meyers (8-105-0/11) has been on fire since Davante Adams gave up on this team two months ago… he’s averaging 16 ppg since Week 3, which would put him as the WR 13 on the year.
- Mike Gesicki (5-100-2/6) has been just as hot... but only when Tee Higgins is out. Gesicki is averaging 15.55 ppg without Higgins, and 3 ppg with Higgins in. I don’t believe Higgins is playing tonight so Gesicki is all systems go if need be. On top of that, Erick All was placed on IR which means less competition at the TE position tonight.
