2024 Week 7: Raiders 15, Rams 20

The Rams were 100% the better team but they let LV hang around… a missed field goal and extra point didn’t help either. The Raiders had drive going late in the 4th but a game-sealing INT saved LA.

With this win, the Rams (2-4) saved their season. They are now only two games behind Seattle and one behind SF for the NFC West. If the Rams lose tonight on TNF, their season is essentially over. If they win, they potentially have a huge Week 9 game against Seattle for the division.

The Raiders fall to (2-5) and are a blowout loss to KC away from selling everything they have and rebuilding for the future. Again. The last time the Raiders drafted a first-round QB was Jamarcus Russell in 2007. It might be time to break the streak and go for one this year.

There’s not much to say about this game, it was just an injured team barely beating a bad team. Let’s get into it.

=====================================

QB Report:
- The Raiders got lucky and found their starter for the next few games but unfortunately, it was because Aidan O’Connell was hurt. Minshew-Mania is back on! Gardner (15/34 for 154 yards, 3 INT) hasn’t looked good since his time in Jacksonville.

WR Report:

- Jordan Whittington (0-0-0/0) barely played despite McVay giving him the ‘go’. I suspect he has something lingering like most players. This was a weird week for wide receivers, a lot of players started but were pulled early or limited all game.

- Cooper Kupp is returning for their game tonight, and with that Whittington and Tyler Johnson (4-57-0/7) will be in that ‘Puka’ role. Kupp will get 10+ targets tonight so every other option is a wash now.

- Brock Bowers (10-93-0/14) had a great game, but the Rams didn’t really care about stopping him. I’m not sure why but the LA DC was more concerned about Tre Tucker (3-36-0/8) than Bowers… the same Bowers that’s on pace to break the rookie receptions record as a tight end.

D/ST Report:
- The Rams defense won this game despite their offense. Damarious Williams has provided some real juice to this offense, and the rookies are starting to figure out NFL football a little bit. In a few weeks when this offense (hopefully) is fully healthy the Rams D can be useful to us fantasy footballers.
