2024 Week 3: Packers 30, Titans 10
Tennessee was just simply outplayed in this game. They didn’t game plan well for Malik Willis and he had a monster game against one of the better defenses in the league. The Packers offense ran some interesting offensive plays, misdirection using Josh Jacobs to set up big pass plays, it was fun to watch.
The Titans have played all of their games fairly close, and have looked impressive against NYJ and Green Bay, two of the top teams in the league. Tennessee started the season with a tough schedule especially the defenses they’ve faced. The Titans have Miami this week and need to get a win to keep their season alive.
Matt Laleur is coaching the Packers very well and despite losing Jordan Love their team is going out and beating teams handedly, they may be the best team in the NFC when Love returns.
=====================================
- Will Levis (26/34 for 260 yards, 2 TD/2 INT) played a really good game against a very good defense, one of the better ones in the NFL. What impressed me the most is despite this challenge Levis completed 76% of his passes and was also trying to move the ball rather than dinking and dunking close to the line. Levis is close to being very good and we should see it against this shotty Miami defense this week.
- The only thing the media will talk about is the interceptions and the silly photos that keep being shared but most of Levis’s snaps are really good. Every QB tries to make hero plays every game and Will’s just happens to lead to big mistakes rather than nothing ending harmlessly like they have for everyone else.
- Malik Willis (13/19 for 202 yards, 1 TD) came out and diced up the Titans, a team that cut him before the season started. This is the best Willis has looked in his limited NFL time. Tennessee keyed in on stopping Josh Jacobs and let Willis run all over them even though that’s what he was known for and probably the main reason Tennessee drafted him in the first place.
RB Report:
- Tennessee had to abandon the run early so Tony Pollard (6-14-0, 3 catches for 15-0/4) wasn’t a big feature of this game. Levis was throwing downfield successfully so he wasn’t using the checkdowns as much either.
- Josh Jacobs (14-43-0, 1 catch for 5 yards) was the main focus of the TEN defense so his game was stuffed. Emanuel Wilson (12-50-0, 2 catches for 35-1/2) was used more to deal with the defense keying on Jacobs and he looked great… as he always does.
WR/TE Report:
- Jayden Reed (4-50-0/6) has put together a string of really nice outputs and is due for even more success when Love comes.
- Building on that idea, Romeo Doubs (1-18-0/2) should be the biggest winner for Love’s return. Willis isn’t the best at hitting the medium-long routes and that’s where he runs most of his routes. It worked last week, it didn’t work this week.
- DeAndre Hopkins (6-73-1/7) is finally back, I didn’t think it would happen yet, if ever, but he looked very good. Dehop only played 25 snaps and was targeted 7 times. The true test on his health/return will be when he is facing off against Jalen Ramsey next week.
D/ST Report:
- Tennessee's defense was great in Weeks 1 and 2 but were derailed this week. They misplayed GB and were missing tackles left and right. They just lost star corner Chidobe Awuzie (1 tackle) to injury which hurts this defense a lot.
