2024 Week 3: Dolphins 3, Seahawks 24
Seattle (3-0) came out firing and were up 17-3 quickly, and the game stalled here. Miami had a chance at a touchdown in the 4th quarter to make it 17-10 but they weren’t able to score. Seattle scored late which finally put the game away.
The Seahawks are the worst of the undefeated’s. They barely beat Denver in Bo Nix’s debut, they went to and won OT against New England, and they could barely beat a banged up Miami using Tim Boyle and Skylar Thompson as their QBs. Seattle is on fraud watch this week against Detroit.
==================================
- Geno Smith (26/34 for 289 yards, 1 TD/ 2 INT) threw the ball a lot for a game where they were up by 2 scores for the majority of it. I’m not sure- what to expect from this passing game. All coaches say they want to run the ball, and Seattle can behind Zach Charbonnet (18-91-2, 3 catches for 16 yards), but Seattle was firing downfield all game.
- I thought Skylar Thompson (13/19 for 107 yards) played well for a backup. He was confident and was actually throwing downfield and over the middle, stepping into his throws, all the positives. Thompson did struggle with holding onto the ball for too long, especially as the Seattle pass rush started to get to him later in the game. Thompson eventually went down with an injury and is going to miss at least their game this weekend. Thompson impressed me in the playoff game in Buffalo a few years ago too, maybe there’s something here? Unfortunately we won’t be able to see more of this.
- Tim Boyle (7/13 for 79 yards) looked like Tim Boyle. He is not a pro quarterback. Tyler Huntley should start for Miami.
[As I’m editing this, Huntley was just named the starter]
RB Report:
- Devon Achane (11-30-0, 3 catches for 28-0/5) never had his big broken play in this game, he just looked like a faster-than-normal running back, not this star that he usually is.
- Jaylen Wright (2-17-0) came in for 2 carries in the middle of the game and he looked incredible. Miami could really have something special with Wright-Achane-Mostert going forward, but we know they won’t go that route.
WR/TE Report:
- DK Metcalf (4-104-1/6) had a huge game, he and Geno are best friends in this passing game.
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba (3-39-0/3) decided to follow his breakout game up with a dud. No surprise there as he is just a non-DK option.
- Speaking of non-DK options, Noah Fant (6-60-0/6) was finally involved in the passing game. Similar to JSN last week I don’t think this is going to be a ‘thing’ moving forward. Miami isn’t the best at covering the TE and Detroit is solid defending the passing game.
- Tyreek Hill (3-40-0/5) had a normal 2024 game for him, just without the 50+ yard touchdown to save his performance. It’s time to see how much of an offensive genius Mike McDaniel really is… if he gets Tyreek involved in the offense via screens, touch passes, rushes, etc. or if Tyreek just runs the same routes he always does. Hill should be getting 7-10+ touches per game with about half being manufactured even with a healthy Tua.
D/ST Report:
- I am starting to get worried about the Seattle defense, they haven’t been as ‘shutdown’ as I think most people thought they would, or still think they are. The QBs they’ve faced are Nix-Brisset-Thompson/Boyle , and they haven’t impressed me on tape. If this was a great defense then everyone would be singing their praises but instead there’s radio silence.
