2024 Week 13: Giants 20, Cowboys 27

What a game this was, the Drew Lock vs. Cooper Rush showdown. Dallas controlled the overwhelming majority of this game but the Giants scored 10 points in the last 5 minutes to make the score look better. The reality of this game is that the Giants lost by 2 or 3 scores.

Dallas (5-7) now has a very very outside shot at the playoffs so there’s going to be an influx of scenarios of how they make the playoffs. The Cowboys might get to 6 or 7 wins.

New York (2-10) is currently slated for the third overall pick but ESPN has them as the odds favorite to win the race for the first pick in the 2025 draft. Unfortunately for them this seems like a down year at the QB position, the first in a few years.

=======================================

QB Report:
- Drew Lock (21/32 for 178 yards, 1 INT; 4 rushes for 57 yards, 1 TD) had some nice rushing numbers that helped him to a solid overall fantasy performance, but this Giants passing game is ugly. The only player on the Giants line that seems to stay healthy is Evan Neal and he might be the worst lineman in the entire NFL. Lock starts again for NYG this weekend against the Saints if you’re looking for D/ST option.

RB Report:
- Devin Singletary (7-23-0) got the start of the Giants for some reason. That decision made absolutely no sense to me when the only thing that’s worked on the Giants offense for the last month+ has been Tyrone Tracy.

- Speaking of Tracy (9-32-1; 2 catches for 33 yards), he and Malik Nabers (8-69-0/13) are the heartbeat of the NYG offense. The only reason I can think of Daboll trying to push Singletary over Tracy is that they’re friends from their Buffalo days, and he wants to help him get to any low-tier incentives in his contract.

- On the Dallas side, Rico Dowdle (22-112-1; 3 catches for 11 yards) was fortunate to have played the Giants and rushed for 100 yards. I don’t think Dowdle is a great running back at all, I’d rather have numerous backups/free agents than to have Dowdle as my #1 back.

WR/TE Report:
- Theo Johnson (5-54-0/5) was put on IR and his season is likely over, injuring his foot and putting an end to his possible breakout to end the year. In order to deal with this the Giants signed former Broncos TE Greg Dulcich and I expect a bump for Daniel Bellinger in snaps/targets. There’s no way that the Giants TEs can do well in this offense.

- The best non-Ceedee Lamb option Dallas has is KaVontae Turpin (4-53-0/5), but the Dallas offense usually ignores him. Turpin is actually quite good but in Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones’s genius they want all the 30+ year old players to be the stars.

D/ST Report:
- Giants rookie Safety Tyler Nubin (12 tackles, 1 TFL) now has 3 straight games with exactly 12 tackles. The Giants run defense is so bad that a lot of the rushers break through the front 7 and Nubin makes the play before the RB can do even more damage.
